BUILT FOR EVERY SEASON

Why choose a thermal break iron door?

The character and strength of an iron door, with a frame designed to slow heat moving between the outdoors and your home. It is a thoughtful choice when comfort matters through changing seasons.

A barrier inside the metal frame

A thermal barrier separates interior and exterior metal components, reducing direct heat transfer through the door system.

IRON CRAFTSMANSHIP

CLIMATE GUIDE

Where does a thermal break matter most?

Consider the weather outside, the conditions inside and the door's exposure.

COLD WINTERS

Northern & mountain climates

A strong choice where long heating seasons and freezing temperatures make insulation a priority.

Examples: Northeast, Midwest, Rockies and northern Pacific Northwest

FOUR SEASONS

Mixed climates

Useful where hot summers meet cold winters and the entry faces large seasonal temperature swings.

Examples: Mid-Atlantic, central plains and inland regions

HOT & SUNNY

Sun-exposed entries

Worth considering for doors exposed to strong afternoon sun or where cooling efficiency matters. Select suitable glass and shade for the full entry system.

Examples: Southwest and sunny southern exposures

A thermal break reduces heat transfer through the frame; glass selection, weather seals, installation and the home's humidity also affect overall comfort and condensation.

Door Specifications

Material and Thickness

  • Heavy-Duty 12-Gauge Steel
  • 5/8" Solid Steel Bars for decorative scrollwork
  • 2" Thick Door Leaf with injected polyurethane foam insulation for enhanced insulation performance

Pre-hung Jambs

  • The iron door jamb is the metal frame that surrounds the door slab, providing support for the door and a secure surface for it to close against.
  • Pre-hung jambs and door slabs are constructed from the same heavy-duty steel material.
  • The jamb is typically 2" wide, with the depth customized to match your wall thickness.

Door Finishes

  • 7 coats of paint on top of zinc-galvanized steel to help prevent iron doors from dust & rust.
  • A wide range of color options for you to choose from. Popular door colors: Matte Black, Oil Rubbed Bronze, Rust Red Brown, Rose Copper, etc. Custom RAL colors are acceptable.

Glass

We offer 3/4" double-pane tempered glass as our standard option for enhanced safety and durability.
We also offer an optional triple-pane impact-resistant glass upgrade. Please contact us to confirm whether the selected configuration is suitable for your local project requirements.

Mounting Tabs

Come welded on the jamb with pre-drilled holes for easy installation.

Hinges

  • Heavy-duty hinges.
  • Smaller one is for openable glass window

Weather Stripping

Sealed around the door frames and glass panels to reduce air infiltration and heat loss.

Door Sweep

Installed on the bottom of the door slab, sealing the space to prevent moisture, dust, and insects.

Flush Bolts

Pre-installed on double doors to lock the inactive door and leave a main entrance or unlock it for a complete opening.

Threshold

Comes welded to the jamb to prevent water infiltration. The threshold depth generally corresponds to the jamb depth. (An interior door typically does not require a threshold)

Roller Catches

A roller catch is a type of door latch that uses a spring-loaded roller to keep the door closed, when the spring bolt is not available on the lock set.
